Overview

Next door to Apple Campus is the high-tech, highly hip Aloft Hotel, one of Starwood’s newest boutique properties. The Cupertino location is popular for San Jose and Silicon Valley visitors, especially families wanting to visit the campuses of Apple, Netflix and Google, as well as the area colleges. The hotel’s hipness makes it best for an older crowd, and it serves mainly as a business hotel. The property is a new build, constructed in 2012. During the week, rates can soar to $500 per night, while weekends are practically empty and beckon for families to come take advantage of the lower prices. Teens will especially love the hotel and location, with a high-tech lounge and special treats for techies.

Room Information

Find the Best Price for Your Stay

All rooms at the Aloft feature a sofa, most of which are sectional sofas, as well as small refrigerators (oddly and awkwardly under the bathroom sink), flat-screen TVs and bottled water. Most bathrooms have just a shower, save for about a handful with tubs, so be sure to request well in advance.

Kids bedding is offered with princess, SpongeBob and Minion themes, and both air mattresses and cribs are available.

Savvy Rooms
Savvy Rooms are corner rooms that are junior suites because they are larger in size. These rooms are outfitted with king beds and have views of the pool or Apple Campus.

Standard Rooms
Standard rooms have either a king or two queen beds. With two queens and an air mattress, up to five may share a room. Two double queens can be connected to accommodate up to 10 people.

Fourth floor rooms have bigger windows and city views and come at a premium price.

Never again... no room at the inn

by HotelSnobAustin

What a joke. I booked this hotel while in the Miami airport after learning my Cupertino home was without power as part of the PG&E rolling power outages. I booked two rooms, one for my wife and I and one for my son and his 30 week pregnant wife who I was trying to make as comfortable as possible after a long trip. I had the confirmation number that showed I booked and paid for two rooms. After arriving into SFO and making the drive down to Cupertino we get to the hotel and they have only one reservation for one room. The clerk who has no business working at a front desk of a hotel in silicon valley had no motivation to help and kept saying I needed the second reservation number. I showed her my confirmation email, and that it clearly showed two rooms and the total for two rooms and she kept muttering something and finally said they only had one room. So I told my family to take all the bags we'd just unloaded back down to the car. After fumbling around on the computer for an eternity she said we could go to another Aloft across town (it's now about 1:30 am I think) but she failed to send the paper she said she was supposed to send (some sort of walking paper that says she transferred us there). Seems she couldn't print it or something but when we arrived at the other Aloft it took another 20 mins to check in and that's one of the reasons. That Aloft (San Jose/Cupertino) was fine but we had to be out early and didn't have much time to sleep since it was well after 2:00 am by now.

Overall very bad experience with Aloft. I've stayed there a couple other times when power was out in our section of Cupertino but that won't be happening again.

Decant property, exceptionally poor service

by jrc92024

Spent 2 nights for a work event held onsite. Location is convenient and property is clean, had clogged sink in my bath that took 2 days to resolve, A/C was very poor, in particular at night it seems they turn it off because both nights I woke up sweating even though the thermostat showed at set temperature. The public bathrooms and elevators would be great in a nightclub, but weird blue lights and loud music in a hotel? I think not.
Finally on checkout I had a billing issue that is still unresolved and they have made it known that frankly they simply do not care, I will never stay here again for any reason.

Family Activities

Remix Lounge
Aloft Hotels aim to be communal and invite guests to lounge together across its lobby. At this location, the Remix Lounge is a popular place with white couches and banquette seating with Apple TVs that play movies, music and connect to Wi-Fi. USB ports and outlets are plentiful to recharge devices.

XYZ Bar
Beside the Remix Lounge is a colorful XYZ Bar, which is open from 4:30 p.m. to midnight. Off of the lounge and bar is an enclosed outdoor patio known as The Backyard; it's small and sits beside the noisy street, however. Closer to the lobby check-in are more Apple computers for printing boarding passes and surfing the 'net.

Pool
A small outdoor pool is open from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Family Dining

Refuel by Aloft is the hotel's breakfast spot, providing grab-and-go breakfast items, as well as a limited menu of cooked-to-order breakfast items. The area offers snacks, drinks and microwaveable meals (there is a microwave) for purchase.

Planning & Tips

All About the Extras
Laundry
The hotel features a laundry room with a coin-operated washer and dryer and free detergent available to guests.

Pets
The property is pet-friendly and provides dog beds, water bowls, extra bottled water, toys and goodies for pets under 50 pounds.

Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is complimentary throughout the hotel.

The Art of Smart Timing
The hotel's location near Apple and many tech giants of Silicon Valley makes it a popular business hotel. Monday through Wednesday nights are the busiest for the hotel, which finds it charges $300 to $500 per night on those peak days. Weekend traffic dwindles enough that heavy discounts are offered to lure in families.

Getting There
San Jose has an international airport, and San Francisco's airport is just 40 minutes away. The area is located off of Highway 101, for locals driving in from California destinations.

Getting Around
Your family will need a car to get around Cupertino and the San Jose area attractions and sites.
