This plantation, located in the Virgin Islands National Park on St. John, features the ruins of a colonial-era sugar facility. Constructed between 1797 and 1805, the sugar mill lasted into the 19th century, until a hurricane in 1867 destroyed much of the plantation. The ruins includes the Village of the Enslaved Laborers, Salve Cabins, Windmill Tower, Horse Mill, Curing House, and a Dungeon. Visit the Oven, where today old-style bread baking still takes place and guests can sample Dum Bread for a donation.
