This newer of two visitor centers for Big Cypress National Preserve lies on its western side. A boardwalk overlooks waters frequented by manatees, anhingas, and other coastal birds. A swamp buggy — a big-tired mode of transportation invented in the ‘Glades — is on display outside. Inside, interactive exhibits include one where you can listen to pig frogs, limpkins (a species of very shy birds), thunder and rain, and other Everglades music. Learn about Florida panthers, alligators, watershed, and other park elements with games and hands-on devices.
