Family Activities:

Brolio Castle

Attraction

Mom and dad will like a stop at Brolio Castle in Chianti because this is the original home of Chianti and the estate and vineyards provide tastings and tours. Kids, however, may like a chance to tour the castle, which has been standing since 1141. The descendants of the Ricasoli family still reside in the castle, so tours are only offered of the grounds and in the chapel. The structure, which was built in 1316, houses the remains of generations of the family, and it is a nice stop during a driving tour of the Italian countryside. The castle is only open from March to October, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. A restaurant on the property, Osteria del Castello, provides lunch and dinner patio dining.
