Kids can recite the famous poem that begins in 1492, and if visiting Santo Domingo, they can also see the burial place of Christopher Columbus. The El Faro a Colon is a 688-foot-tall monument, where Columbus’ remains were moved from Catedral Primada de America. The monument serves as a lighthouse with 149 searchlights that can, on clear nights, be seen from Puerto Rico. The lighthouse is near the Alcazar de Colon, built by Columbus’ son.
