When President Abraham Lincoln visited Gettysburg following its great battle, his speech went on to become one of the most famous speeches in American history. Lincoln stayed at this home and put the finishing touches on his Gettysburg Address. Visitors can tour six galleries, all restored to look like original rooms in the house in the mid-1800s. The site is on the Register of National Historic Places, and works as a partner to neighboring Gettysburg National Military Park.
