The former home of Henry Mercer, Fonthill Castle has 32 staircases (including one for Mercer’s beloved dog, Rollo), 21 chimneys and 44 rooms, easily seen in hour-long, guided tours. Families should tour the castle via Tower Tours for Families, shorter tours with fun stories and prints featured along the way. Tower Tours are held the first Saturday of every month at 10:30 and 11: 45 a.m. Children must be at least 6 years old to attend (due to the staircases); admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children.
