The hiking trail from Fira to Oia goes along some of the most stunning terrain in Santorini. The trail goes through the villages of Firostefani and Imerovigli and it winds its way above the caldera, where hikers get to see panoramic views of the volcano from a variety of angles. The path itself is not overly challenging, but it does include inclines. The trail is around 6 miles long.

Depending on walking speed, the hike can range from two to five hours. Many walk this route in the midday sun, but bear in mind it may get very hot for children. Oia has plenty of bars and restaurants for weary walkers and for those arriving later in the day. It’s famed as the best place on the island to watch the sun set.
