Jade Museum

Jade Museum

Central Av, Street 13 and 13 bis, San Jose

The five floors of the Jade Museum are filled with Costa Rican history, culture and artifacts shown through the jade stone. Jade represented spiritual power in the Costa Rican culture. Some of the jade was discovered throughout the country and some was traded for bird feathers or wood with other countries. Families can see how jade stones and jewelry were created by cutting jade with jade, and kids can dig for artifacts in a giant sand exhibit.

Monday through Sunday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

$15 for adults; children under 11 years old are free

There is a small café that serves drinks and snacks in the lobby, but no food or drink is permitted throughout the museum.
