During low tide, you can explore a series of seven caves at La Jolla Cove, via kayak. You’ll have a chance to get up close and personal with the seals and sea lions that frequent the area.

Several operators offer kayak tours, notably La Jolla Sea Cave Kayaks, though the prices are steep — rates are $80 for a two-person kayak ($85 on weekends and holidays). Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the summer months; 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in September and October; and 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in November.
