As the largest of Minneapolis’€™ urban lakes, Calhoun boasts three beaches and a constant flow of sails from its yacht club and sailing school. You can also rent kayaks and canoes to paddle along the shores. In the winter, look for snow kiters who harness the wind and speed across the frozen lake. It’s easiest to find parking on the south or west side where you can find the intriguing Bakken Museum of electricity and magnetism. Tin Fish, a casual seafood eatery on the northeast shore, is the only restaurant right on the water, but you can head east down Lake Street for more eateries and shops in the bustling, hip Uptown area.
