You didn’t think New Orleans was the only southeastern city that truly celebrated Mardi Gras, did you? Mobile, Alabama has a storied history with winter carnival, and it’s all honored at this small museum, located in an old home. Displays include videos, photos, and artifacts, including parade costumes.

The Mobile Carnival Museum is open Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is just $5 for adults and $2 for children ages 2 to 12. Free parking is available onsite.
