For the classic-car aficionado, this is the best possible place in L.A. to spend a few hours. The cars are so fascinating, and the exhibits so interesting, though, that even the self-proclaimed automobile-ignorant will surely find something to grab their interest. Highlights include lifelike dioramas of 20th century California street life and its cars, Hot Wheels galore, and a cool alternative-fuels exhibit. The third-floor kids’ area offers some good hands-on exhibits.
