Crossing over the Grand Canal, this is Venice’s most famous bridge, the Ponte di Rialto. Originally a wooden bridge of 12,000 pilings, the current marble bridge was constructed in 1591 with a 24-foot arch. This area of town is the most crowded with shops and restaurants, as well as hordes of tourists pushing each other to walk over the bridge, but it is still a beautiful spot and one that shouldn’t be missed.
