It’s the breathtaking roller coasters alone that draw many thrill-seeking guests to Six Flags. Several record-breaking coasters make their home at Great Adventure, with new rides introduced at a regular clip to keep up with competition and demand. The iconic, 456-foot Kingda Ka ranks as the world’s tallest coaster, and the fastest in North America. The world’s tallest drop ride, Zumanjaro: Drop of Doom hoists riders 41 stories into the sky and rockets them back to Earth at 90 miles per hour. The oldest existing coaster on-site is the Runaway Mine Train, which opened in 1974. Other world-class rides include the wooden El Toro; Nitro; Batman: The Ride; The Green Lantern and Superman — Ultimate Flight; and The Dark Knight.

In 2016, Great Adventure debuts its 14th coaster, The Joker, based on the DC Comic villain. This 4D, free-fly coaster lift riders straight up a 12-story, 90-degree hill before flipping them over six times, providing a feeling of weightlessness as they soar outside the track’s confines. For younger guests, the pint-sized Road Runner Railway coaster allows kids at least 42-inches tall to ride on their own. All rides are weather permitting, and height restrictions apply.
