Great Exuma’s original capital city, Steventon makes a short, scenic drive from Emerald Bay (about a half-hour from George Town). See the statue of Pompey and learn the story of his 1829 slave rebellion in Exuma. The Pompey Museum of Slavery & Emancipation in Nassau is named for him. Ruins of the old city jail sit next to the monument.
