Attraction

Transpeninsular Marker at Fenwick Island Lighthous

RT 54, South side of Fenwick Island Lighthouse, Fenwick Island, DE

What appears to be a large stone sticking straight up out of the ground directly in front of the Fenwick Island Lighthouse is actually a Transpeninsular Marker, marking the border between Maryland and Delaware (or what was considered Pennsylvania in the 1700s). While the Mason Dixon Line runs North to South, the Transpeninsular Line runs East to West. The Fenwick marker shows the exact border between Maryland and what was considered the “lower counties” of Pennsylvania before it became Delaware. Kids will love to put a foot in each state and check out the coat of arms for each state on either side of the marker.

Parking
There is no parking lot but street parking is available.
