The only motel/cottage resort located directly on Squam Lake, the Boulders provides a private getaway ideal for water lovers. The resort has a 100-foot long private beach (though it can be steep — watch toddlers!), as well as complimentary canoes, kayaks, rowboats, and paddleboards to allow you to get out onto the lake in style. Or if staying indoors is more your thing, you can have the best of both worlds lounging on the screened-in front porch that adjoins all of the units. In the evenings, guests gather around the beachside fire pit for S’mores and to listen to the serenades from the loons.

The rooms themselves might charitably be described as “rustic” — knotty pine walls and mismatched furniture, but the owners have been slowly updating the accommodations with new mattresses and furniture. The property has rooms to suit any size party, from double motel rooms to one- and two-bedroom cottages, to renting out the entire main house with four bedrooms, kitchen and dining room. Cottages come with full kitchens, while suites have kitchenettes and motel rooms have refrigerators. A modest breakfast of muffins and coffee is provided every morning.
