Built in 2015, the Courtyard Marriott Richmond Downtown falls into the category of, “Why didn’t we stay in that hotel?” when you realize you missed something great. This property – dripping in location – is walking distance to fantastic museums, the Riverfront Canal Walk, and a bevy of fun restaurants and bars. But you ask, is a downtown location safe? Yes. The Courtyard Marriott is so safe that a single mom with toddlers would feel right at home staying at this property on her own.
The hotel’s restaurant, the Bistro, offers a full menu along with a kids’ menu, with both breakfast and dinner options, a bar, and Starbucks coffee. Every room comes with a mini-fridge and a microwave and plenty of ports to keep the tech devices happy. If you want a view of East Cary – and you do – request a corner room on the third to sixth floor facing the cobblestone street. The hotel has valet parking, but with the self-parking garage across the street at half the price, there’s no need to ante up.

Enjoyed the comfort of the room and the excellent service. The staff was always willing to help from the minute I arrived until the time i left.I arrived early but they were able to find me a room so I could go ahead and check in.
Great location. Rooms are quite small and ours had a view of an alleyway and industrial vents on the building next door; they told me that the property was sold out so they couldn't change my room...so much for the benefits of being a Marriott Rewards member. Almost no drawer space and tiny closet in the room. The bathroom was spacious but only the basics like shower gel, shampoo & conditioner...no body lotion, cotton balls, shower cap, etc. There was no complimentary coffee in the lobby which I thought was pretty standard at the Courtyard properties. Front desk staff was friendly and helpful.
