Embassy Suites hotels are great for family trips because they are all-suite properties with separate living and bedroom areas and kitchenettes in every room, not to mention the complimentary made-to-order breakfasts and evening receptions offered daily. But the Embassy Suites in Oxnard, California, has a secret weapon that makes it especially a great destination hotel for families: it’s located on a 7-mile stretch of beach!
The property features a large outdoor swimming pool, often filled with kids splashing and playing during the day, and is within walking distance of the Channel Islands Harbor. Here, the marina is filled with sailboats and charters available to enjoy the harbor and the national park’s collection of five islands, the closest of which is mere minutes from Oxnard.
With suites that can comfortably sleep six to eight guests, the Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach is also the perfect destination hotel for multigenerational family trips and family reunions. There is plenty of room for everyone here to spend a weekend or a week on the beach.

All rooms at Embassy Suites across the country are suites, and at the Mandalay Beach location, each of the 250 suites have recently been renovated.
The hotel offers cribs, high chairs and Pack 'N Plays for families to use during their stay.
Two-room suites feature an oversized living room with kitchenette and full bathroom connected to a master bedroom with another full bathroom. Guests can choose from one king bedroom to two queen bedroom options, with the living room providing a full-sized sleeper sofa, enabling a family of six to share one suite. The kitchenette features a small refrigerator, microwave and wet bar, and a small dining area allows families to dine in their suites, as well.
Rooms provide balcony or patio options, with walkout patios near the pool providing easy access for families with small kids and strollers.
Some suites are three-room presidential suites with two queen beds in one room, a king bed in another, and a sleeper sofa in the living room, able to sleep up to eight people. These rooms also provide three bathrooms, with the master featuring a whirlpool tub.
For families looking for beachfront rooms, you will pay more for these coveted rooms, but you'll have the best views from the upper floors, and easy access to the beach from ground-floor walkouts. (There is a gate that separates the resort from the beach that requires key entry, keeping guests safe 24/7.)
We texted the photos to the “Text us anytime” number and let them know that we would be out of the room for a few hours so that they could clean and fix the problems. Received a text back that they were sorry and it would be taken care of. We returned almost four hours later and housekeeping had not come by, only maintenance to fix a broken light. We had been in the room about 90 seconds when housekeeping knocked. She was here about 15 minutes, just to make the beds and straighten up a bit. For almost $800 per night we expect more than moldy bathtubs, dirty vents and fans, broken blinds, cobwebs, and ocean view windows that can’t be seen through. Gave them the opportunity to fix the issues prior to posting a review.
This place has a great location right on the beach. The staff was so friendly and helpful.
And I especially liked the fact that our suite provided 2 separate sleeping areas
because my husband snores????
The morning complimentary breakfast is great. So many choices; eggs, bacon, pancakes and so much more.
It’s nice not having to leave premises for breakfast.
The resort feels more like a resort with multiple buildings surrounding a large outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts and beach. Along the beach is a paved trail for walking and running. The heated outdoor swimming pool is centralized and provides plenty of pool chairs for families, some in shaded areas.
Families can also rent bicycles from the hotel, and play tennis and table tennis.
One of Embassy Suites' claims to fame is its delicious -- and free -- breakfast offered to all guests. The hotel provides a made-to-order omelet station, as well as a hot and cold breakfast buffet, all included with accommodations at the beachfront hotel.
In the evenings, a complimentary manager's reception is held in the same room as the morning breakfast, providing snacks and drinks and a chance to socialize with other guests from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. nightly. Parents receive complimentary wine, cocktails and beer, as well.
For lunch and dinner options, the hotel's Coastal Grill is open from 11:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. The kids' menu includes mac and cheese, chicken tenders, grilled chicken breast, grilled sirloin and salad, while parents can enjoy small plates, sandwiches, salads, soup and large plates with pasta, chicken, steak and fish items.
Room service from the grill is offered nightly, from 5 to 10 p.m.
