At the Friday Harbor House, rooms are best designed for two. That said, children are welcome at the hotel (kids under 5 stay free), so if you’re bringing them along, plan to either tote along an air mattress, or, if the kids are old enough for a little independence, book adjoining rooms. Some units do feature a pull-out sofa, so call to inquire about that. All rooms include a mini-fridge and coffee maker (no microwave), a jetted tub for two, and high-speed Wi-Fi.
Even with the lack of family rooms, there’s plenty to make the hotel an attractive option: you’ll enjoy fantastic views of the harbor, friendly and helpful staff, a lovely garden area, and a free DVD library. Complimentary breakfast each morning features baked goods, house-made granola, eggs, potatoes, fresh fruit, coffee, and juice. Find upscale-leaning seasonal specialties at their onsite restaurant, where the three-course dinner menu makes a perfect date night (kids may not be as enthused about the wild salmon, arugula salad, or crispy Brussels sprouts). Nearby you’ll find bicycling, boating, whale watching, the Whale Museum, and more.

The view, the cozy rooms with fireplaces, the warm and welcoming staff, cant say enough good things about Friday Harbor House. I accidentally left my apple watch there and not only did they find it, they sent it to me the next day. I am so grateful! You will not regret staying here if you are visting the San Juan Islands
Exceptional view of the Harbor was well worth the premium price. Never tired of watching the ferry traffic and the occasional float plane landings.
Hotel had 3 floors with a quiet upper level. Suite felt very spacy, in large part due to the balcony, and the open panels that allowed one to look outside from the bathtub.
Complementary wi-fi was decent enough for streaming without hiccups.
Ookla Speedtest: Download 19.35 Mbps download, 9.75 Mbps upload.
High Def TV used Direct TV. The program menu was clunky and the stations were hard to find. Had to Google exact number for can’t miss NBA opener on TNT.
Old fashioned drip coffee set-up allowed one to experiment with the strength of one’s brew. Also beat the disposable plastic cups. And the complementary oat meal cereal was a really healthy choice.
Had wonderful stay. Would have stayed longer if I had the chance.
