If you don’t mind a few stairs this is the place to stay. They will help you with bags anyway so all good. We had a comfy bed/room with a sensational view of surrounding mountains as we were up quite high. The breakfast is great and all the staff are all really helpful, in particular Mauricio who met us at the train station, was really friendly and within the short walk to the hotel gave us plenty of local tips. We had a 3.20pm train after a full day at MP and amazingly they have shower facilities for guests even though you’ve checked out. My parents are visiting next year and I plan to book this place for them.

This hotel is located on a bit of a side street and up a stair case (google maps found it a bit hard to locate.) The best thing about this hotel was its breakfast. The breakfast started at 5am and was a buffet that included yogourt, granola, fruit, bread (rolls, sliced bread, croissants etc.) potatoes (which were warm despite what others say.) banana bread and eggs made to order (scrambled or omelette.) This breakfast definitely had the most variety compared to other hotels I stayed at during my trip. Our room was near the top, so yes there are a lot of stairs, (lets face it you are here to do Machu Picchu, if you have a problem with stairs you should probably reconsider Machu Picchu.) I agree with others that the room did have a VERY strong perfume/room deodorizer spray smell. So strong that if you have a sensitivity to that (i.e asthma etc) I would not stay here as it is that strong. The bed was a king size and comfortable. TV had netflix. Wifi was spotty (how netflix worked I do not know but I managed to watch a movie with no issues.) The shower was warm, but bathroom itself was dingy. The toilet moved when you sat on it, there was a hole in the ceiling with visible wires (right next to the shower too...) but the water was hot (although the tap was backwards as the hot water handle was on the right.) You can store your luggage while you go to Machu Picchu too. It is about a 7-10minute walk to the bus and train station. There is a pasty shop right around the corner that sells fresh and delicious pasties (veg option available!)
Pro tip: The Tree house Cafe is right around the corner and they do boxed lunches for 40 soles that you can get delivered to this hotel for 5am the day you do Machu Picchu. (meat, veg and gluten free available.) It is not anything fancy, but if you're planning on doing the Huayna Picchu hike the food was much appreciated!
