I fly ORD quite often and always had been curious about the Hilton, seeing it as a first class hotel. I finally had a reason to book, coming in on a late flight and unable to complete the journey that night. Room rates on the Friday night were really low, so I booked instead of going to another local hotel. The experience was not as I expected. The hotel is firmly in the "former glory" stages of life, and looks and feels tired and worn. Staff was OK, but a bit distant and cold. The room apparently had been occupied for a short time and not made up again. There was some personal effects left behind and the bathroom soaps were used. Bed and all seemed made, so it was late and I stayed. Toilet made dribbling noises and heater was loud. Noise from the airport was subdued and not a problem. Bar was on last call when I arrived, so didn't hang around. Sleep quality was good, once the neighbors settled down. Overall, the place needs renovation or at least a major work over. Sad to see these iconic hotels going downhill.

We only stayed one night waiting for our nexdt flight, the room was very clean and had everything we needed. The check in staff was very courteous and we had dinner in the restaurant and the food was delicious. I needed a birthday dessert for my friend and and the restaurant staff all came and sang Happy Birthday.
