Everything that I experienced about the hotel was excellent. I would recommend Homewood Suites to anyone. The rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The lobby and breakfast area are spacious with comfortable seating available to all.

Even though this hotel was inaugurated about a decade ago, the design and the general state of things make it feel about 25 years old, especially in the rooms and hallways. The old room carpet was buckled in several spots. The bathroom had a flimsy door and an old-school shower curtain, and the fridge compressor was a bit loud. Perhaps worst of all is the erratic, unreliable AC unit.

The key cards don’t always function and they won’t grant access to certain areas, such as the pool and the gym bathroom. It was the kind cleaning staff members that generally opened the doors for me.

Although most of the hotel staff was great, when we checked in after 11pm, with two young and sleepy boys, our room was not prepared according to the reservation info and the requests. I had to move furniture, set up the fold-out couch, and make my kid’s bed... and I couldn’t find the bedding, as it was truly hidden. The gentleman at the front desk was not really helpful, nor empathetic. There were other significant omissions and anomalies in the room, but I won’t get into the details.

As for the rest of the staff: the housekeeping and cleaning staff are very nice and helpful. Anya, the GM was professional and quite attentive.

I would recommend not having the communication with guests feel so much like pre-written notes, especially if the experience has been negative. I had two response emails come in on different days, and the message was practically the same.

As a final note, I hope that limited service hotels across the US will one day start to provide a decent breakfast for its guests... I guess that it is the guests that accept and even request the sugar-rich pastries and cereals, the 2 or 3 GMO fruits that may be available, the refined wheat bread and processed dairy... it’s time for a change. Also, the ban single-use plastic is overdue. This hotel, like so many others, does not make a good effort to curb waste.

To end on a positive note: the backside of the hotel offers nice views of a small forest. Opt for a rear-facing room on a higher floor.
