Loved our stay here! We were in room 501 and had a living room of which we opened the window for fresh air. The small details (decoration, wine and cheese, super friendly staff, good coffee at breakfast) made it a great experience. Also the location near Union square is great.
Stayed here two nights. There is a lot to like here: nice staff, good location, little happy hour (wine selection very bad though), ok breakfast.
But here’s the rub: first the building which appears to have been built in the 1910/20s based on the door jams is one long hallway on the left side and a row of single rooms on the the right. The necessitates the room rather than being designed as long from the door to be wide and the bed to be positioned 5 feet from the hallway door. In a modern hotel the bathroom would sit there and act as a sound buffer. So all night long you hear people talking and walking back and forth. This is especially accurate in you are a lower room number—I was 301. So I was the first room into the hallway and had to listen to people wake me up all night long and morning. Not a good nights sleep at all.
Second, as someone else mentioned, there is no ventilation. Zero. My room was hot (maybe 78) and even though I had the thermostat turned to 65 nothing. No air flow at all. And the room smelled and is dank/musty.
Lastly just one elevator. So one morning at 7am I waited for over 5 minutes as the maid occupied and blocked the elevator for every floor cleaning out the previous nights cookies jars. Not optimal.
For the money I think you find way better.
