Never heard of Kimpton? This boutique hotel chain has dozens of properties in 16 states across the U.S. and really welcomes kids. We like Kimpton because they offer the predictability of a chain, along with a good dose of personality. Some locations have pools, most have excellent family restaurants on the premises, and connecting rooms are available. At the Kimpton Alexis in Seattle, a family package gives kids an hour of free, in-room Nintendo; s’mores (delivered to the room); a watercolor paint kit set; and two passes to the Seattle Aquarium. Their new property in Miami has a Super Hero package that includes a welcome gift, “Punch Hour” reception, free continental breakfast for two each morning and four tickets to your choice of several local attractions (the aquarium, Miami Zoo and Jungle Island, among others).
At all Kimpton properties, kids get a welcome gift and cool animal-print bathrobes. Parents also get free use of cribs, highchairs and booster seats in all restaurants, in-room child safety kits and nightlights, an on-call pediatrician and baby-sitting, as well as stroller and car seat rentals. Kimpton is also a pet-friendly chain.
