Visitors to New York City have a new opportunity to visit one of the most original concepts found in the U.S.: a 130-foot- by 40-foot floating food forest that lives in the Hudson and East Rivers. Created to house an edible forest garden, Swale is working to provide free healthy food options, while serving as a sculpture that is opening to the public in April.

Transforming a barge into a food forest, Swale is a floating apple orchard and perennial garden oasis nicknamed the new version of New York’s Highline. Travelers can visit Swale April 20 through November 15, 2017. Visitation is available at the following locations:

– Apr. 20 – June 15: Hudson River Park Pier 25
– June 15 – Aug. 1: Brooklyn Bridge Park Pier 6
– Aug. 1 – Nov. 15: Concrete Planta Park, Bronx
