On May 3, Six Flags Great Adventure in New Jersey will team up with Gersch Academy for Students on the Autism Spectrum to host the first-ever Autism Day at a major amusement park.
Sensory-friendly features will include designated quiet areas, lowered lights and music, and shorter lines/accommodations so those with autism don’t have to wait in long lines. Educational presentations from autism specialists will also be available.
The announcement follows Sesame Place’s designation as the world’s first autism-certified theme park, signaling a trend that more amusement parks and attractions are becoming autism-friendly.
April is Autism Awareness Month.
