We recommend Ostria as family stay. Very good accomodation and very good food. I would like specially recommend you to try your best at archery with mr Gilles, whom with fully professional approach explains basics of that discipline. Hospitality on the highest level.
Last week we stayed at Hotel Ostria Beach. It is a nice place to stay were you feel home. It's not a real hotel but more like a little village with 5 pools (zen-pool, adult only with bar, kids pool, sports-pool and a pool for those who like the pool above the beach) Several restaurants (you have to try them all!) a fitness and spa and its own beach located close to the bar. It's an excellent place for snorkeling, swimming and water sports
When we arrived there was a small problem with our room and we had to move to another hotel. This inconvenience was excellently compensated and the next day after breakfast we were picked up so that we could enjoy our stay at Ostria Beach.
We enjoyed our lunches in the central buffet restaurant. Every evening there was a nice show organised but the Jettour crew. As you have probably read, they speak French but it never was a problem because the shows are mostly about music and dancing and if necessairy the speak English as well.
For diner you should really try all restaurants. The typal Cretan restaurant was an evening we will never forget. we thought we had to choose something from the menu but got everything on the menu on our table. Plenty of food, but very tasty.
The only disadvantage of the hotel is a disadvantage of Crete itself. The island is not extremely large but driving around takes a lot of time therefore it was not possible to visit the samaria or the imbros gorge. On the other hand, for a visit to Chrissi Island, Vai Beach, Knossos, the Lasithi plateau, Spinalonga, Elounda, Aigos Nicolas, ... it was perfect.
We had a perfect stay and this in difficult times due the problems with Thomas Cook. I would like to thank the owner of the hotel, his crew and the crew of Jettour to make our holiday a holiday where we didn't had to think about those problems. At the gala evening the owner guaranteed us that we could continue our holiday without any worries, which was not always the case in other hotels.
Thanks a lot, we will definitely come back!
