After a cruise that docked in Jacksonville, hubby and I stayed here one night before heading home. We were just looking for a cheap place and did not have high expectations.
We arrived around 10:30am and expected to leave our luggage with the desk and head out shopping or something until we could check in, but a room was available so Alec allowed us to check in early. “Why let it sit there empty when you are already here?” he asked. He also gave us the option of a 1st or 2nd floor room (no elevators) and poolside or not. He gave us great recommendations for food and things to do. On our way to the room several staff members asked how we were doing, helped give us directions, offered to help with luggage - just over and above on customer service! The room was bigger than expected, clean, and had anything we’d need including a fridge, microwave, drawers, hangers, iron, ironing board, and hair dryer. Ample space. Pool view room was gorgeous and the pool was nice to sit at and relax in lounge chairs. Above what we expected and where we will stay anytime we are in the area. Thank you for superb customer service Alec and staff!
I wish it had been a great visit but I was informed by a phone call after Hurricane Dorian , that I needed to check out and after my check in and way before the hurricane , a call that we are all booked up ! My oh my how we look to make money when some of us are just here to work and this wasn’t a mandatory evacuation . I explain to them and I didn’t really appreciate the fact that I had to wait for hours to find out if I was welcome so I checked out . I wish they would’ve been a little more compassionate when I was there during the hurricane instead of saying we are completely booked for the whole week . I found out that they really didn’t have a complete book for the week and I thought about how others , and some other hotels were forced to evacuate but this wasn’t zone A or B so I’m sorry but I will not stay for this reason .
