Boombox Frozen Pops And Ice Cream

This retro-style ice cream and frozen pops shop is located in downtown Lake Charles. Kids and parents will love the old-school arcade games, 80’s music always playing, and the colorful flavors are not only delicious, but fun, too! The gourmet frozen popsicles like Worm-Up (which has a gummy worm frozen inside), Raz DMC, Sweet Child Oh Lime and Blister In the Sun are all hand-made and crafted in the pop lab. There are more than 40 flavors (always changing with the season) including ice cream flavors like Spice Spice Baby and Grass Monkey that can’t be beat either! Stop in for a frozen treat and a walk down music memory lane.

Luna Bar and Grill

Located in the heart of Lake Charles, this lunch and dinner restaurant doubles as a live music venue. There are tons of concert posters all over this eclectic restaurant, making the decor just as fun as the food. Featured menu items include things like sandwiches, burgers, seafood, steak and more. This low-key, unassuming Cajun restaurant is where all the locals go for their seafood and gumbo, so you know it’s delicious. Chart House

Located at the Country Club at the Golden Nugget Hotel in Lake Charles, the Chart House serves lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Restaurant Calla

This neighborhood restaurant is slightly more upscale and offers things like gumbo (one of the best in town!), pasta, bone marrow and seafood for lunch and dinner. Their house-made burger is in such high demand at lunch that they had to offer on the dinner menu too, but it’s first come, first serve for the burger. Only 10 are available each night so get their early if a burger is what you want for dinner!

Jack Daniel’s Bar & Grill

Located within the L’Auberge Casino Resort Hotel, Jack Daniel’s Bar and Grill is a casual spot with cool decor. As you walk in, look up at the massive links of chain hanging above the bar and painted to look like an American flag, and don’t miss the giant metal cactus made out of horseshoes by the front door.

Open for lunch and dinner, this restaurant features more than 25 beers on tap and tons of Cajun/Creole dishes from the award-winning Chef Lyle Broussard. Some menu items include BBQ, burgers and salads.

An institution in Lake Placid, New York, the breakfast club, etc. serves some of the best breakfast you’ll find in the area. Omelettes, sandwiches, Benedicts, pancakes, French toast—you name it, you’ll find it on the menu.

The restaurant offers a full bar as well, which means you can wash your breakfast down with a mimosa or Bloody Mary. Lunch is available (but with a name like “the breakfast club,” you just have to order the breakfast).

Located in downtown Lake Placid and featuring views of Mirror Lake from its windows and back porch (open seasonally), Black Bear Restaurant serves casual fare in a cozy setting. Expect to find soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers and the like on the menu, as well as full chicken, steak, seafood and paste entrees

Lisa G’s

A favorite amongst locals (any local will recommend it to you) and visitors alike, Lisa G’s offers innovative cuisine in a cozy atmosphere. Located in downtown Lake Placid, the restaurant also has a full-service bar that’s just as popular as the dining room.

Menu options may change seasonally, but expect to find dishes such as a Moroccan burrito and “Greekza” (Greek-inspired pizza). The wings are popular here, too.

Big Slide Brewery & Public House

Lake Placid, New York, has a few breweries. But the one you absolutely have to visit is Big Slide Brewery & Public House. While it’s widely known for its Giant IPA—awarded the number one DIPA in New York State at the 2017 NY Craft Beer Competition—Big Slide offers a variety of craft brews, including pilsners, sours, cream ales and stouts. Have a pint or sample several in a flight. 

Big Slide Brewery also serves food, most of which is sourced from local ingredients. You’ll find shareable plates (the pretzel nuggets are a must), brick-oven pizzas, salads and small plates, and full entrees on the menu. Many of the options are vegan, and gluten-free pizza crust and bread is available.

The Crepe Stand

Located at the ski base in River Run Village at Keystone Resort, this sweet shop is the perfect place a snack or dessert. Both sweet and savory crepe options are available. Things like buffalo chicken, brie and apple or chicken bacon ranch are options in the savory category. Or if you’re looking for something sweeter, try Nutella and strawberries, caramel apple pie or a S’mores crepe. Freshly baked cookies can also be found here. There is no seating inside but there are a few tables with chairs outside and a fire pits are with chairs are just a few steps away from The Crepe Stand.

Montezuma Roadhouse

This casual dining spot sits at the ski mountain base in River Run Village at Keystone Resort. It serves lunch and dinner and a kids menu is available. Some menu items include burgers, power bowls, oysters, steak and fish. The kids’ menu offers things like mac and cheese, hot dogs, chicken tenders, grilled cheese and kids steak or salmon. Gluten free options are available.

New Moon Cafe

Located in the heart of River Run Village at Keystone Resort, this cafe serves breakfast and lunch. It’s a great breakfast spot to enjoy before hitting the slopes. Even better, breakfast is served all day! Breakfast burritos, breakfast bowls, waffles, chili, nachos and more can be found on the menu. There is both indoor and outdoor sitting and this is a good, family-friendly apre ski or happy hour spot as well.

Bighorn Bistro & Bar

Located within the Keystone Lodge and Spa hotel, this upscale restaurant overlooks the 5-acre ice skating at Lakeside Village. Serving only dinner, even dining at night offers perfect views. The menu is always fresh and local sourced when possible. The menu includes things like filet, salmon, pasta, Shepard’s Pie and more. This restaurant is best suited for older children or a date night.

Ski Tip Lodge, Bed and Breakfast

This cozy restaurant is situated within the bed and breakfast, Ski Tip Lodge. Families are instantly transported back in time upon entering the wooden and stone cabin. Ski Tip Lodge was once a stage coach stop in the 1800s during the gold rush. It  became the family home of the founder and owners of Keystone Resort and was then turned into the resort’s only B&B. It is still used as a B&B today but also offers a lovely restaurant to all visitors. The weekly four-course dinner menu here is always rotating. Housemade soups, surf and turf, filet, pork chops, scallops and more are offered here along with an extensive wine menu. But the best part of the meal is when you are given the option to move from your table to a cozy fireside room for a delicious dessert. The warm and cozy restaurant is best for older children or a date night.

Brisket

Proud to serve real Texas barbecue in South Carolina, this restaurant offers brisket, pulled pork, chicken and ribs, along with such sides as Frito pie, fried green tomatoes, and baked beans and bacon. For children 12 and younger, the kids menu features a brisket or pork sandwich on Texas Toast, a grilled cheese on Texas Toast, chicken strips and two ribs, all served with fries.

Boardwalk Billy’s

Rather than try to state what you can have at this dining hot spot, it almost would be easier to tell you what is not available here. Appetizers, burgers, sandwiches, wraps, seafood and sushi are just the start. Even the kids menu is lengthy, with chicken fingers, corn dogs, grilled cheese, fried shrimp, mac n’ cheese, hamburger, cheeseburger and cheese quesadilla, all served with a choice of fries, homemade chips or tater tots.

Duffy Street Seafood Shack

For those looking for an authentic beach shack food experience, this is your destination. There’s also a wealth of appetizers, salads, soups, sandwiches and desserts. The kids menu offers a burger, chicken fingers, fried fish and fried shrimp, all served with hush puppies and fries.

LuLu’s North Myrtle Beach

While this restaurant may not be located directly on the beach, you’ll certainly feel like you’re there thanks to the sandy backyard by the Intercoastal Waterway. Plus, Lulu’s is top-notch for addressing food allergies, so do not hesitate to check out the various allergy menus for something that fits your needs and appetite.

Hot Stacks Pancake House North Myrtle Beach

Although this restaurant does serve lunch—and some good stuff, too—the crowds really turn out for breakfast. And who wouldn’t, what with a menu of, yes, pancakes, but also eggs benedict, shrimp and grits, deluxe french toast, a breakfast quesadilla, and much more. Lunch offerings include burgers, sandwiches, soup and salads.

Preston’s Family Seafood Restaurant

A mixture of seafood specialities and country cooking, this buffet offers more than enough to satisfy any appetite. Crab legs, prime rib, broiled salmon, baked honey ham, and much more, along with plenty of sides to complete the meal, are available until your belly is full. There’s even a “kiddie bar” featuring chicken tenders, corn dog nuggets, pizza, hamburgers, french fries, and nachos and cheese.

Hoskins Restaurant

A mainstay of family vacations since 1948, this family-owned diner remains a popular destination for breakfast, lunch or dinner. During lunch hours, the restaurant features a lunch special consisting of a “meat and three,” or an entree and three sides, plus dessert (homemade pie!). Think fried chicken with rice and gravy, field peas, and cabbage. Available for children ages 12 and younger, the kids menu contains plenty of kid favorites, including corn dog, grilled cheese and chicken tenders.

Caretta on the Gulf is located inside the Sandpearl Resort and both indoor and outdoor seating is available with awesome Gulf of Mexico views. Some menu items include sushi, steak, grouper and more.

This casual, beachside grill and bar offers a vast menu with great sunset views over the Gulf of Mexico. Fins at Sharky’s

Serving lunch and dinner, Fins at Sharky’s is located above Sharky’s on the Pier near the Venice Fishing Pier. Fins is slightly more upscale compared to its beachside counterpart, but is still a casual dining option for families. Things like oysters, burgers, sandwiches, fish and chips, steak, surf and turf, sushi, fish and more are available here. The kids’ menu (which includes gelato for dessert) offers pasta, grilled cheese, tempura shrimp, California sushi roll and more.
