Situated on the world renowned Copacabana beach, the Royal Rio Palace Hotel provides stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean, quiet rooms for relaxation, and a rooftop pool that offers a birds’ eye view of Rio. There are countless restaurants surrounding the hotel that serve colorful Brazilian dishes and delicious international cuisine. Families can embark on a train ride through Tijuca National Park, the world’s largest urban rainforest. The train makes a stop at the iconic Christ the Redeemer art deco statue. For more adventurous guests, hang-gliding and waterfall rappelling excursions are available. Troops are marmoset monkeys often make an appearance.

Nice stay with friendly staff

Initially had an issue with our booking and the man at the reception was able to rectify the issues and ensured we had a great stay.

We stayed in the presidential suite which was incredible. This hotel is in a great location, rooftop views and a nice buffet breakfast.

Excellent location, great breakfast spread, poor room quality for price and mediocre front desk service

The hotel’s location just cannot be beat- short walk to the beach, near a variety of quick eats and fine dining and access to metro. The breakfast spread was great, I felt so full every morning.

However, during my stay here I switched rooms 3 times. The first room’s bathroom flooded after a quick shower, the second room had visible mold in the bathroom and the 3rd room’s shower didn’t drain properly, which maintenance fixed after a call to reception. Reception was OK about handling the issues but didn’t seem unphased about the variety of issues we had in the room. To me, that may have been indicative of larger issues within the hotel infrastructure.

I would not stay here again if I had the option but I appreciated other staff (dining room and luggage assistants) that went above and beyond to help us make the most out of our stay in Rio.
