When the hotel I was staying at gave away my room to someone else. I was moved to the Seven Mapi. After reading all the negative TripAdvisor reviews, I was a little bit nervous, and honestly prepared for the worst, but I was tired and didn't feel like fighting things, so here it was. As others have said, the hotel is literally feet away from the train station, so, yes, you hear the train and noise from the street. Also, you will hear buses starting up around 5 am. So, a quiet location it is not. But, it is close to the train, and an easy walk to the bus stop, and not too far from restaurants and shops. The hotel has many floors and no elevator (just stairs), so you should be prepared for that if you brought hand luggage. (I just had a backpack, so it wasn't an issue for me, other than going up several flights of stairs exhausted). The room itself was big enough, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was on the smaller side, so not a ton of wiggle room in there, but at least it had a hot shower, and seemed fairly clean. When walking to my room (5th floor), the automatic moyion sensor lights were not working when I was looking for my room, thus I had to use my phone's flashlight to be able to see, as it was pitch black in the hallway. In the morning, breakfast was basic, but was fine to get started. (Fruit, bread, han, cheese, cereal, and two hot options such as home fries and eggs). Staff was pleasant, and seemed ready to help. Just an FYI, I'd you need to purchase water from them, it was 6 soles ($2), so... you might want to plan for that. Overall, it wasn't a horrendous experience, but I doubt that I would stay here again. If I could, I would rate this hotel at 2.5.

Frankly, ditto of what everyone said. No hot water, a sink that couldn't drain properly, sticky floors in the room, "ran out of breakfast", and right in front of the train station which runs late and early.
The staff were helpful and friendly, but you can see why ratings are so poor here. Was booked at this place by our agency and I'll be talking to talking to them about it.
