Originally built in 1961 and renovated in 2002, this retro hotel reopened in 2003 and was able to keep a classic 1960’s feel with all the modern amenities of today. The hotel has always retained its original name and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which makes the retro (not vintage) feel even more appealing.

Located in the heart of downtown Springfield, Illionois and only a few blocks from the Capitol building, families will love being near all the Abraham Lincoln attractions like the Lincoln Museum and Home.

A fireplace in the lobby greets guests along with a grand player piano. Families will love the free Wi-Fi and free hot buffet breakfast, too. There is no pool at this hotel, but larger groups can request to turn an ordinary meeting space into a movie theater to watch a movie on a projector screen!

The décor of the guestrooms and suites will be a blast from the 1960's past, but with all the modern comforts of today. The furniture may appear to be from the '60s but it's not vintage, it's retro, and hotel staff nailed it during the renovation!

Rollaway beds are available for a fee and cribs are free upon request. DVD players can also be provided.

Standard Guestrooms
The guestrooms feature queen beds, and connecting rooms are available. The retro décor is functional and fun, down to the sliding bathroom door that slides over as the closet door, too. The bathroom features a bathtub and there is one television in the standard rooms.

Deluxe Suite
The deluxe suites feature a mini-fridge and microwave in a kitchenette. The living space is separated from the bedroom by a wall and there is a television in each room. Plus, an old-school futon sofa can be pulled out as a bed.

Executive Suite
The executive suites feature a full-size refrigerator and microwave in the large kitchenette, which has a counter looking into the living room. A full boardroom table (appearing as if to have arrived from the set of "Mad Men") is featured in the large living room that has a fireplace and futon sofa bed. The separate bedroom features a king bed and there is a television in each room.

Kid Movies
Guests who may be visiting with a larger group can request to have one of the meeting rooms transformed into a movie room for kids. A projector screen can play a kids' movie and a popcorn machine can be brought in, too. Plus, the meeting rooms are downstairs away from other guests so kids can get as loud as they may like and they won't disturb anyone.

Gallery Room
Guests will love to start the day with the complimentary hot, buffet breakfast. Eggs, sausage, cereal and pancakes are some of the items included in the buffet. Breakfast is available from 6 to 9 a.m. during the week and from 7 to 10 a.m. on the weekends.

Piano Lounge
The lobby Piano Lounge is great for social gatherings. The lounge overlooks the Springfield Capital building and the grand player piano always plays a good tune.

Wi-Fi
Guests can enjoy free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

Sweet Shop
The small market offers frozen meals, beverages, sundries and snacks 24 hours a day. Hot coffee is available all day, too.

Fitness Center
Cardio machines and free weights are available in the small fitness center that is open from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. Gym towels are provided.

Plenty of free parking is available in two lots directly outside the hotel.

The Art of Smart Timing
It's always a great time to visit the Illinois state capital, but when children are off from school for spring break or the summer, the State House Inn can be a bit busier. Also because of its proximity to the State Capitol, when the State legislators are in session, between January and May, the hotel can also be busy.

Getting There
The St. Louis International Airport is about an hour and 45 minutes from the State House Inn, and Chicago O'Hare International Airport is about three hours away. For smaller airports, Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington is about an hour and 15 minutes, and Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport is about 10 minutes away.

Getting Around
If you plan to stay in downtown Springfield for much of your trip, a rental car is not entirely necessary, but could be a good idea. Several things to do and restaurants are within walking distance to the State House Inn, but if you want to venture a few blocks outside of city limits, a car rental is necessary.

This retro lounge serves up cocktails from about 5 p.m. to midnight most nights. No food is served at No Name but there is a popcorn machine for those who are looking for a little late night snack.
