As one can see from my profile, I have stayed in numerous properties over the past few years, most will be able to provide unbeatable service but Velaa stands out clearly because of just one reason- Passion. Everyone at Velaa is passionate about their jobs, more than 60% of the staff have been there since pre-opening, the sole owner runs it like a family business, he built it out of love and now wants to share it with everyone. At Velaa, every single cent earned is pumped into upgrading the resort & improving the welfare of the employees, hence attracting guests to return. We've crossed paths with so many amazing staff on the island, Shiaz who hosted us at Aragu, Shiyax, Hassan, Afsah & Rose- these guys went above & beyond to make our daily breakfast so pleasant (the chef even vacuum packed coconut jam for me to take it back home since I love it so much), Joe who whipped up a storm at our favorite Teppanyaki restaurant, Tavaru, Imma who kindly took us on a wine cellar tour, you'd be impressed with the collection Velaa has, and most importantly Haz our personal butler who made everything possible and Ibbe, he touched our lives by paying so much attention to every detail at every breakfast, on our last day (just yesterday) he surprised us at our table with a Liverpool logo (using colored rice) to celebrate their win against Man City. It's the small things like this which make our hearts so full and we are aiming to return in 2020.
My husband and I stayed at Velaa for 3 nights for our honeymoon & personally I highly recommend the water villas, you get lots of privacy and direct access to the ocean where you'd get to see plenty of fishes right under your villapp. The Teppanyaki dinner was our favorite, it's a lot of food and you get to see the chefs prepare the food right in front of you. We also went for a guided snorkel session and were given complimentary use of the seabob machines since they were aware I cannot swim, that was a nice gesture. Not forgetting the amazing spa by Clarins which was so rejuvenating, & the epic dolphin sunset cruise on one of their luxurious yachts, we had so much fun just sipping champagne while catching dolphins in action.
Every activity on the island is very private, and you'd always feel like you're the only one around. Trust me, 3 nights on the island wasn't enough for us as there's just so much to do ! Everyday is a different day, even the breakfast spread changes, & we thoroughly enjoyed every meal we had on the island, the quality is superb, seafood is always so fresh.
The staff will welcome you warmly when you first arrive with cold towels and a glass of champagne, likewise when you leave they'd bid goodbye. We had the opportunity to arrive via speedboat and return on one of their Velaa sea planes which was more comfortable than the usual sea planes operated by Trans Maldivian Airways.
So thank you to each and everyone of you at Velaa for the best stay of our lives to date, you guys made everything possible for us and accomodated us in every way you could, touching our lives and hearts. It was also our pleasure meeting the GM, Micheal and getting to know more about Velaa from him.
It's goodbye for now but not forever, we will be back I know, as every penny was well spent!

Villas, they are perfect, best in all resorts i stayed

Food: room service is very good, breakfast is less good compared to Milaidhoo. The Teppanyaki restaurant is not good, the way the chef cooks the wagyu made the worst wagyu from kagoshima in my life
We didn’t try the signature restaurant as it requires suit and shirt, but who on earth will bring suit and shirt to Maldives??

ZERO MARINE LIFE
I have been to many resorts in Maldives, this is the only one without housereef. No fish at all. What is the aim of providing mask and snorkel?

1 more thing is rediculous is the time zone change. Hotel is kind of 1 hour ahead of male time for guests to enjoy more sun shine. The idea is good for those island with full board or all inclusive restaurants, the guests need to know exact time to eat. But in this luxury island, i don’t see any advantage of this, we have to finish breakfast at 10:00 am as on island it is already 11, and all the phone will set the time automatically but not correct according to resort

During our stay, there was a staff party beside of our villas, i was told that it was until midnight at 12:00am. I waited and until 1:30 am i have to call my butler to ask them to finish as it was too noisy and we couldn’t sleep!!!!!!
This i never see in any luxury resort, we are the people to enjoy our holiday by paying so expensive, of course the staff could have a annual party , but it could not adfect their guests, right????
