At the sanctuary, kids will enjoy petting the donkeys and learning about them–you can even “adopt” one for $25 a year to help the volunteers care for them. Visitors describe the animals as gentle and intelligent, and the staff are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. Drive carefully on the road in, though; it can get rough in spots.
