If your kids can appreciate a great view, cheer them up the 97-step spiral staircase of the 1869 Cana Island Lighthouse. It can be crowded (especially with parking until a new lot is built), but views on a clear day are spectacular. Downstairs there are exhibits on shipwrecks and rescues and the role of a lighthouse. Kids can experiment with light refraction and magnification, but their favorite part will probably be roaming the rocky ledges along the shore and building a stacked rock statue to leave behind.
