In one of America’s most haunted destinations, several operators offer ghost tours. For a spooky, yet tear-proof tour (held rain or shine) with kids, however, visit Ghosts of Gettysburg. Clad in Civil War-era attire, tour guides lead visitors on a short walk through town, telling stories and pointing out most of the buildings in which said tales take place (you won’t actually enter the buildings during the tour though). Don’t be surprised to see “something” along the way — the old school house (a makeshift hospital during the Battle of Gettysburg), in particular, has rendered photographs of eyes peering through windows.
Reservations are strongly recommended (especially during the summer months, as tickets sell out), as are tips for tour guides. Admission is $9.50 (plus tax) per person. Bus tours are also available for $10.50 (plus tax) per person.
