Family Activities:

Jacksonville Beach Fishing Pier

Jacksonville Beach Fishing Pier

503 N. First St., Jacksonville Beach, FL

When a fishing pier anchors a beach community, it becomes the focal point and heart. Besides anglers, it attracts surfers, strollers, and sunners. For families, that means activity to watch and take part in for all ages.

Jacksonville Beach recently revitalized the area around its pier with streetscaping and development that modernizes its retro look. The beach is wide and the waters usually wavy. Station your family beach day down the beach if you want to avoid surfing activity.

Nearly a quarter-mile long, the wooden pier itself holds a bait shop and concession and is wheelchair accessible.

It costs $4 to fish (no license required), $1 to stroll. Children younger than 6 can enter for free.

6 a.m. to 10 p.m. April through November, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. the rest of the year.
