Six Flags Over Georgia

275 Riverside Pkwy SW, Austell, 30168, GA

In the Atlanta area and looking for a thrill? You’re in luck! Six Flags Over Georgia is located just 15 minutes outside the city and the park is waiting for you to strap into one of its epic coasters. There is such a diverse set of rides to choose from, as well as live entertainment for the folks that just want to keep their feet on the ground and avoid the steep dips and flips. Popular thrill rides include Dare Devil Dive, where riders climb up a 95-foot hill before plummeting down a drop that is more than 90 degrees, and the 2,970-foot-long classic wooden roller coaster known as the Georgia Cyclone.

For little ones, visit the Marthasville Railroad Station, the Riverview Carousel, Tweety’s Treehouse and Whistlestop Park, which is a giant play area and climbing structure for kids to explore. The entire family can enjoy rides together, too, such as the Thunder River rapid ride, which allows for 12 people in raft, and the Sky Buckets cable cars, which offer grand views of the entire park.

In 2014, the park introduced Hurricane Harbor, the in-park water park that is free with admission. The many attractions in the new section of the park include Hurricane Bay, an 80,000-gallon wave pool; Paradise Island, an interactive area for children; and multi-slide complexes, Tsunami Slide and Bonsai Pipeline. Six Flags Over Georgia has a second water park located next door. Admission to Six Flags White Water is separate from the theme park and Hurricane Harbor.

2016 brought more park updates, notably a virtual-reality roller coaster (the Dare Devil Dive), a DC Super Friends kids area with five attractions including a family coaster, and Bugs Bunny Boomtown (an updated version of Bugs Bunny World).

If planning a trip to the theme park for a day or two, consider staying overnight at the Hampton Inn & Suites ATL-Six Flags.
