Sneak a little earth science lesson on the kids with a visit to one of the privately owned show caves that give Missouri one of its nicknames, “The Cave State.” There are about 6,300 recorded caves across Missouri!
The hour-long underground tour at Talking Rocks Cavern introduces all the basics of stalagmites and stalactites and about how water erosion creates caves while the eerie echoes that reverberate throughout the cave add some frightful fun.
Note that the cave is not stroller-friendly and requires climbing up and down stairs, and remember to bring a jacket because it’s always about 63 degrees in the cave. Some family members may wish to stay above ground, where a miniature golf course with special water features makes the trip doubly worth the effort.
Talking Rocks Cavern is located in Branson West, just minutes from Branson.
