At Capital Hilton, families stay just two blocks from where the nation’s magic happens — the White House. The downtown location makes it easy to get to the National Mall museums, historic monuments, theaters and shops. For families who want to venture further, three Metro stops are within two blocks of the hotel.

Rooms and suites feature Hilton Serenity bedding, well-appointed sitting areas, flat-screen televisions and wireless Internet access. Cherry wood accents and rich emerald colors adorn the luxury units. Suites display more spacious parlor rooms and one or two bedrooms. Twigs Restaurant serves contemporary, locally-inspired cuisine and a signature breakfast buffet. Children’s menus are available. Statler Lounge offers lunch and dinner in a World War II period decor. Parents may want to check out the Capital City Club & Spa for a yoga class or a tranquil massage.

Overpriced 4 star hotel

The Capital Hilton sits on very expensive real estate, but it also sits in a part of Washington that dies at 5 pm. The hotel itself has nothing in particular to offer after that hour aside from a lobby restaurant well past its glory days, to say the least.

The hotel is old and grand - but frayed and not terrifically clean or spiffy. Staff were only marginally nice - except for the room crews who were so smiley cheerful and nice.

At $500+ a night one would think one could get a bottle of water every day. Or accounting done correctly - but no. One would also think there would be a shower that a person who is 5'8 didn't have to duck to get under.

You may have no choice but to use this one because of its location, and you will be safe and in a big room with clean sheets. But other than that? It is not the least bit competitive.

The capital Hilton was a wonderful stay, as soon as I came in I was greeted by the doorman and took me straight to the honors line were I was greeted with a amazing welcome and smile from Alejando he gave me a amazing upgrade to a K ST view! The stay was just amazing I Will be back for sure.
