We were impressed by the reception, bar staff and breakfast service, and they went to a lot of trouble to accommodate us watching the Rugby Final in the bar!
They also were apologetic for some shortcomings in the rooms - lights not working and missing hairdryer, but these things should be part of checking rooms over before guests arrive: of five lamps in our bathroom, only two were working, and one was hanging from the ceiling - the reading lamp had no bulb in it! On the second morning we found that our complimentary milk had not been replaced. Attention to detail?
A comfortable bed helped us have good sleeps, and the room temperature was fine, although the air conditioning appeared not be available.
Breakfast was decidedly average with poor quality poached and scrambled eggs. The dining room has clearly been re-furbished recently, but the stark lighting means a lack of a welcoming atmosphere, and like others we felt more comfortable elsewhere: during two nights we saw no one eating there.
A bonus is free car parking if you are brave enough and are an early arrival: the surface at the end of the car park is uneven to the point of being dangerous, and you do need to be a confident and capable driver to turn around in the tight space.
A final 'but' is regarding cleanliness - in the original building the access to the bedrooms is via a narrow staircase, and the dust on picture frames and ledges show that cleaning is a low priority.
For visiting Windsor, The Christopher is a good option, but beware of its shortcomings.

Stayed in a single room, which was quite small but ok. Very clean and tidy although a bit dated. Room opened onto the car park, not an issue but worth a mention.

Breakfast was included in the rate that was freshly served i.e. not buffet.

Staff friendly....seems to be run by non-Brits.

Seemed to have some of the previous resident's clothes in my wardrobe, not an issue but thought housekeeping would have checked.

Car park very snug and I go the last space. A larger car than my BMW Mini would not have got through the gate, so beware. A paid car park is nearby however.
