Fairmont lies above the train station in the center of Montreal’s commercial district. An enormous hotel, Fairmont offers more than 1,000 rooms and suites with up to two bedrooms, each decorated with a contemporary decor in earthy tones. The Fairmont even rents out a John Lennon and Yoko Ono suite, acknowledging the 1969 “Bed-in for Peace,” where the couple recorded and taped “Give Peace a Chance.” Three gourmet restaurants in the Fairmont serve delicious food, including Mediterranean delicacies. Kids will enjoy the large indoor pool and children’s wading pool. Parents may want to check out the onsite spa. The area has many additional activities to offer, including golf courses, tennis clubs and ice skating. Tourist sites abound and Fairmont provides guests with prepared itineraries tailored to the amount of time spent in Montreal. These can be found on the hotel’s website.

Always a welcome reprieve

I'm a fan of Fairmont hotels - great service, wonderful ambiance, great beds and facilities. Favorite part is enjoying a signature cocktail at one of their cozy, relaxing rooms, perfect service with staff who always have character.

great stay

True, regular rooms are quite small and a bit dated. The place is also quite expensive. But I treated myself to an upgrade, and “Gold” is really great – well, with the exception of them charging for drinks at the Gold bar, which is unnecessary and should be included in the surcharge. But the reception staff up there is great, even if things go wrong they deal with it very well. Wouldn’t come again, due to the price, but enjoyed my time while it lasted.
