Great location!

The Hampton Inn - Financial District makes one's stay in Manhattan easily accessible. The staff were warm and welcoming and the hotel is near many sites of interest and close to the subway, food and shopping.

Dont recommend!

The rooms seriously need an upgrade and a deep clean. The first room I was assigned to had cracks/holes in the ceiling, stained carpets, and a very musty odor! The next day I was relocated to a slightly smaller sized room (albeit upgraded from a queen bed to a King bed). It is quite obvious that the carpets/curtains/fabric chair in the room are not subject to regularly steam cleaning! So if you are easily plagued by dust allergens, then be warned! Regarding the room size - I had read previous reviews that the rooms size is typical of NY rooms, however I disagree. These rooms are tiny in comparison to other Manhattan hotels I have stayed at. I had 2 suitcases and a carry-on plus my pocket book, and was tripping over them as there was hardly any space in the room for luggage. If you are looking at hotel rooms based on the pictures of the rooms, the pictures posted on the website and on expedia in my opinion, do not accurately reflect the size and quality of the rooms. The pics I saw had space for an extra arm chair, and of the 3 view I saw, the only chair that could hold was to sit on at the desk.

I found it gross that the pillows do not have a pillowcase liner, which acts as a barrier to the pillowcase and pillow. I had a very dirty/stained pillow that I immediately asked housekeeping to replace.

The gym - basically a tiny room with 1 elliptical, bike, treadmill and dumbbells. Totally not impressed.

Upon checking in I immediately wanted to cancel my reservation and go elsewhere, but was hesitant to do so - I didn't want to risk double charges for the accommodation (which was booked for 2 weeks), and then have to pay for another hotel.

The hotel was close to where I needed to be for my business trip. However, the area does get very quiet during the weekend late evening throughout the nights, thus for safety, I do not recommend anyone walking around as that time.

The quality of some of the staff is perhaps the only best thing going for this hotel. Eric @ Front Desk was quite helpful, plus Victor and Flavi (hope I got her name right) who were stationed in the breakfast areas most mornings, were awesome as well! Breakfast cut off time is 10am - too early in my opinion, and they saved me twice on the weekend by providing me with muffins and juice!

I compared other hotels that my colleagues stayed at during the last 2 weeks, and every day it was a reminder of an overall poor choice that I made!
