Stayed here while visiting my daughter at CofC. Great room...great breakfast....was a busy weekend with the Citadel's homecoming. The only concern, is that parking can be challenging, however it is free and in Charleston that is a huge plus! In addition, it is fairly easy to get to downtown Charleston by car. Another plus...there is a new Publix right next door! Will definitely stay here again in the future!

This was our second time staying here. And even though we love Ebony, it will likely be our last. We paid a bit of a premium for the first couple nights, but then got a better deal that matched the quality of the property. The location is good in theory, but with all the construction, development, and busy freeways around it, it’s quite a pain to get to and from. Now they have the indoor parking lot across the street, which adds to complication of getting to your room. But we realized it may be a good idea after we saw a smashed window in the parking lot. The outdoor lot is definitely park at your own risk since hotel surveillance isn’t really good enough to deter opportunists. The free breakfast is a potential plus, but Charleston’s breakfast options are so good we never really had a chance to take advantage. Our group was spread across two rooms, and the fixtures and fittings were old in both. The beds were comfy but until we opened the window the room was distinctly musty with no outside ventilation. The French windows onto our Juliet balcony had a sign that they were locked at all times and shouldn’t be opened but ours happened to be open, which made a big difference in the comfort level. But the star of our stay was Ebony, the front desk manager who went above and beyond in every way. She was funny and cheerful and the picture of Southern hospitality, exactly the kind of person you want to deal with after a long day driving. Unfortunately, that’s probably not going to be enough for most people.
