The Kimpton Lorien Hotel & Spa is located in charming Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, offering a quiet place for families to stay outside of Washington, D.C. Plus, it’s a short walk from a D.C. metro stop, making it easy to get in and out of the city.

The luxury, boutique hotel features an onsite restaurant, where kids’ menus are available, as well as in-room dining. The hotel also features an onsite spa (a fantastic option not offered at all Kimpton Hotels). While Wi-Fi isn’t complimentary, guests can sign up to become a Kimpton Karma member (it’s free to do so) and receive free Wi-Fi access that way.

Guestrooms and Specialty Suites are available, some featuring Panoramic Rooftop Views. Guestrooms are equipped with flat-screen TVs and bathrobes — both adult and kids’ sizes!

Other perks for kids at the Kimpton Lorien Hotel & Spa include Kimpton Kids, a chain-wide program that lets families rent strollers, in-room safety features (such as outlet covers) and other equipment. Kids are also welcomed with special amenities. Pets are welcome, as well, with bowls and beds.

Boutique feel and accessible via transit

Stayed in the Lorien in the spa room. Although it was only on the 2nd floor, it was very quiet. The room was comfortable and the tub fits two. :-). Easy to get to the hotel from the metro stop, even with a suitcase and construction. Hotel is a close next to many things (stores, restaurants, etc.) and very walkable to other things in Alexandria. Since I was there over the weekend, street parking was abundant, and free. The hotel staff were friendly. Overall, one of my favorite Kimpton stays yet.

The Lorien was fantastic!! My stay began with the front desk employees, Day and Syneese, helping me frantically get ahold of the Lyft driver because I had left my phone in the car. They went ABOVE AND BEYOND to help retrieve my phone! I was so, so grateful for their kindness.

In addition, the amenities at the Lorien exceeded expectations-- the room was so comfortable and access to the spa was a great bonus!

Will definitely stay again!
