If you’re looking for some true outdoor family fun in the mountains where you won’t run out of activities to entertain the clan, consider a stay at The Ridin-Hy Ranch. The Ridin-Hy Ranch, family-owned and located in the scenic Adirondacks, was originally a girls’ camp before it was purchased by Ed Carsten in 1940. Today, it retains its “campy” feel with log cabins and a main lodge, but it’s much less rustic!

Log cabins house from four to eight guests and all are within short walking distance to the beach, pool, main lodge and horses. The cabins offer one or two bedrooms and baths and some have a living room with a pull-out couch; decks either overlook the ranch activity or the lake. Families frequently prefer the “lodge” style accommodations for their proximity to the lake (just 50 feet from the beach area), dining area and indoor pool.
