We’re all having to adapt to a new lifestyle in light of COVID-19: telecommuting, homeschooling, events getting canceled, not being able to go out to eat, and not going to the movies. But because most cinemas across the country have closed, some production companies are releasing movies early for streaming at home. Here are the family-friendly movies you can stream earlier than expected.
You can now join your favorite Frozen characters on their newest adventure from the comfort of your living room. Released on DVD and Blu-Ray for less than a month, Disney decided to release it on Disney+ early to help parents who are home with their kids.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker
Originally slotted to be available to purchase digitally on March 17, fans were surprised this past weekend when the newest (and final installment) Star Wars movie was available to download a few days earlier than planned. There is still no word on when it will be released on Disney+.
With most movie theaters closing around the U.S, movies that were recently released may suffer. Because of that, Universal has decided to make some of their current movies in theaters available to rent via streaming. Emma is the only family-friendly of the bunch for now. (Parents may be interested in The Invisible Man, The Hunt and these other early-release PG13 and Rated R movies once the kids are in bed). You can rent it for $20 for 48 hours.
Sonic the Hedgehog
After a delayed release to re-design the title character, Sonic the Hedgehog will now be available for digital viewing on March 31. The highest opening weekend for a video game movie, your kids are sure to love watching Sonic try to stop evil Dr. Robotnik from overtaking the world. Parents will enjoy watching the ever-wonderful Jim Carrey as the evil mad scientist.
A perfect family movie about two brothers going on a journey, Disney released Onward for digital downloading March 20 at 8pm, which was earlier than planned, and it will be available on Disney+ starting April 3.

Trolls World Tour
A movie that was supposed to do well Easter weekend, Universal decided to release it in any cinemas that are still open on April 10, and also make it available to rent. So if your kids love the Trolls movies, you can give them something to look forward to! Like Emma, it will be available for a 48 hour stream for $20. Much cheaper than buying individual tickets for a family of 4!
